Gina Guthrie, RAW

Gina Guthrie is a formal criminal entrepreneur, now working for Reclaim Another Woman (RAW). She is thriving as a mother of two sons and enjoys the everyday challenges that come with leading a legal life.

With her very real understanding of the struggles faced upon release, she is providing amazing authentic support and guidance to parolees through RAW, as they reclaim their lives for themselves, their children and the community.

A passionate and inspirational human being, Gina is without a doubt, a woman to celebrate.

Tell us what you’re passionate about?

I am passionate about being a Mother. Nothing in my life has given me more than I get from being a Mother. I have made some mistakes and it’s possibly harder than most things I’ve done, but the fact is, that right or wrong this love is unconditional.

How do you look after and nurture yourself?

I enjoy my time alone, and the sense of peacefulness this brings. I enjoy my own company as much as I enjoy that of others.

What does womanhood, femininity, vitality, health/wellness look like to you?

What I do now know is that it’s not a man world, where woman are there to cook and clean and raise the children alone. That being abused mentally and physically is not ok. I don’t have to get over it and get on with it. That as a woman you are not the lesser sex, your rights are equal, the man does not run the house and have control over what you do.

Growing up this is what I believed, this is what I witnessed. I thought this was just life and that this was the way life was. I NOW KNOW DIFFERENT!

My favourite quote is: “A strong woman knows she has strength enough for her journey, but a woman of strength knows that it is in her journey where she will become strong.”

What do you love about yourself?

I support people of any age who can benefit from my knowledge and experience. I take time to do so and feel good about doing it.

Tell us what you stand for, what is your personal revolution?

Remain as stable and as consistent as you possibly can, but bend with the wind when the storms blow, so that you can continue to stand and grow in the direction of your values over the duration of your lifetime.
